Technical description of the mixer:

In short: the StudioLive 16.0.2 mixer from Presonus is a digital mixer with a FireWire audio interface, with 16 input channels [8 mono + 4 stereo], 12 XMAX microphone preamps [class A], 4 AUX connectors, high-quality AD/DA converters 24 -bits, 60mm faders and two 32-bit effects processors! Additionally, it has a USB audio interface [18x16].

Meet Presonus StudioLive 16.0.2! The Studio Live [24.4.2 and 16.4.2] line of mixers, which has taken the market by storm, has just been released in its third installment. The smallest of the family - Studio Live 16.0.2 is distinguished not only by its compact size, but also by its enormous possibilities. Don't let the small size of this debut mixer fool you! Inside you will find all the most important technological solutions that contributed to the enormous popularity of Presonus digital mixers.

StudioLive 16.0.2 is equipped with 8 mono channels, 4 stereo channels, 12 XMAX microphone preamplifiers with 48V phantom power [plus one XMAX preamplifier for Talkback input], 16x16 FireWire interface, 'Fat Channel' section with 3-band equalizer [semi-parametric] , compressor, limiter, noise gate and high-pass filter. The whole is complemented by two DSP effects and 4 AUX buses, which makes it a powerful tool for working both in the studio and on stage. The ability to save and recall all mixer settings and effects in a fraction of a second will be invaluable. For comfort of work, operations such as copying, pasting and saving settings in real time can be performed on each channel.

The mixer packed with the latest technology successfully integrates the world of professional digital consoles with multi-track audio recording systems. The mixer comes with Capture ™ recording software, compatible with the OPEN TL format, thanks to which we can export the recorded material to one of our favorite DAW programs [Samplitude, Cubase, Logic and others]. Of course, there was also an application synonymous with the comprehensive Studio One 4 Artist music environment, as well as software for two-way communication between the mixer and the computer - Virtual StudioLive. Let's remember that these are only a small part of the possibilities offered by the system based on the Presonus StudioLive mixer...

This is the first mixer in the family that can send and receive MIDI messages! Already the first glance at the back panel shows that 'Junior' offers a solution that is not available in other StudioLive series tables. The well-known and appreciated ability to control the console directly from an iPad or iPhone may turn out to be insufficient when our hands are busy playing our favorite instrument. In this case, the MIDI input and output will be beneficial, thanks to which we will easily be able to recall session settings from the DAW [Program Change messages], control the main output volume, effects level or even mute effects between songs, all thanks to the magic of MIDI messages.

Using the [MIDI] footswitch, you can control:

  • Main output volume level,
  • Volume level of effects A and B,
  • A and B effect settings,
  • assigning effects A or B to the main bus,
  • switching between session settings.

Presonus StudioLive is designed with the idea of quick access to each of its functions: effects, aux buses, dynamics processors and their parameters during music production. As befits a professional design, Studio Live is equipped with 60 mm faders enabling precise adjustment of the proportions of instruments and vocalists in the mix. The clear layout of the mixer section, the ability to immediately recall global settings and each channel individually means that the engineer has at hand everything necessary for quick implementation of musical ideas or 'live' control.

Effects, EQ, Dynamics Processors

The mixer is equipped with all the tools necessary for professional studio and live production. We have at our disposal: 24 compressors, 24 limiters, 24 expanders, 22 high-pass filters, 24 equalizers, reverb and delay effects, the ability to reverse phase on each channel, and all effects are converted with 32-bit accuracy.
